5-18 July , 2008 Abdulhamid Abdalla, Syria/Germany. Emmanuel Ekong Ekefrey, Nigeria

Emmanuel Ekong Ekefrey

Emmanuel Ekong Ekefrey, Painter. Nigeria
Emmanuel Ekefrey bears witness through his paintings to powerful attachment to his own Ibibio culture, akin to the Igbo group which occupies the southeastern part of Nigeria.
The most striking formal characteristic of Ekefrey's paintings is the use of large-sized canvases left unstretched.

Abdulhamid Abdalla

Abdulhamid Abdalla

Abdulhamid Abdalla, Syria/Germany
1974 Born in Al Hasaka, Syria
1999 graduated from the study of arts with diploma at the University of Fine Arts in Damascus, Syria
2001 3rd prize in the Competition of Young Artists, Syrian Artists Association
2003 living and working as an artist in Germany
2006 member of the art agency “Art Goes Public”, Hamburg, Germany member of the Association of Professional Artists, Damascus, Syria member of the „Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler“, Germany
His childhood in the desert-like landscape in Syria has deeply influenced Abdulhamid´s kind of painting. So for a lot of his pictures he prefers the colours of dry earth and ripe corn. Like flowers in the desert singular colour-spots are setting shiny accents. Partly the artist himself produces his colours with natural materials he finds outside. Sometimes straw or sand, mixed into the colours, gives the surface of his paintings a lively and sensual structure.
Abdulhamid expresses in the language of art what he is not able to talk about. In contrast to the technique, which he always uses for a purpose, the subjects of his paintings are never planned but the result of an unconscious inner process.

Automobiles are Bob Matson´s art language.
He depicts cars as experiences and lets our dreams reflect in them. His artwork is sometimes that of photographic precision, however left with graphic expression. Despite his technical talant as an artist, he is not just a superficial picture-maker. The more one studies his artwork, the more subtleties and finer details are discovered.
Bob´s paintings are not just art work - they are happenings!
